Italian Classes

GROUP CLASSES ONLINE

Studying a new language can be as exciting as intimidating. That’s why a group setting can make things more relaxed, playful, and interesting.

There’s nothing better than sharing your journey with passionate individuals who know the struggles you are going through. That’s how I found some of the most important people in my life: in college studying languages!

SPECIFICALLY…

  • OBSERVATION. Let’s start with something ‘terra terra’, like we say in Italian, ‘just plain’: the spotlight is not always on you. Learning doesn’t occur only when you’re actively participating, but also when observing your peers. Listening to others’ accents and errors fosters a sense of observation without the pressure to provide the ‘right’ answer.

  • LOWERED INHIBITIONS. In language learning, there’s this thing called affective filter, a sense of self-consciousness and anxiety that interferes with language acquisition. It’s a universal experience to some degree! And that’s ok. However, within a group where everyone is learning and making mistakes, studies show that inhibitions are notably reduced.

  • DEPTH In small groups, there’s a high level of interaction which enables learners to have deeper discussions on complex topics.

  • THE. FUN. Let's be clear, I thoroughly enjoy teaching one-on-one, but the level of playfulness in group settings is beyond compare. There’s nothing more effective in learning that having fun. Emotions help us remember things (ever wondered why you remember certain details of emotionally charged events?). Yes, the stronger our emotional connection to a situation, the more our brain engages, enhancing the absorption of information. Our desired class emotion? HILARITY! If laughter's present, it means you're likely relaxing your brain, enabling deeper information retention.

PRIVATE CLASSES ONLINE AND IN PERSON

You’re in the driver seat. And I'm your co-pilot.

Private classes foster an ongoing dialogue between student and teacher, tailored to your specific interests. While maintaining structure and defined goals, the beauty of private sessions lies in their limitless possibilities. Whether it's mastering enough Italian to order an espresso at Piazza Duomo, engaging in deep conversations with your in-laws on Christmas Day, or belting out Pavarotti's arias in the shower, I've got your back.

  • INTENSIVE LEARNING. Working one-on-one for an hour each week provides excellent training. Combine this with 10-15 minutes of daily practice and watching an Italian movie weekly, and you're off to a fantastic start.

  • SPECIFICITY. Let's dive deep into your passions and interests, exploring them through the lens of Italian language and culture.

  • DEPTH OF CONNECTION. Through my teaching experience, I've formed friendships with many of my students. To be honest, I probably spend more time with them than with my own family!

  • ATTENTION TO DETAIL. We’ll concentrate on exactly what you need, focusing on your specific requirements and objectives.
